On 4 October 2022, the Attorney General of NSW, Mark Speakman SC announced that Heather Moore has been appointed as the new Commissioner for Uniform Legal Services Regulation and CEO of the Legal Services Council, following the retirement of the current Commissioner and CEO, Megan Pitt. The media release noted that Heather will bring extensive experience in regulatory policy, as well as in the justice sector, to the work of the Council and as Commissioner. For the past decade, she has worked for the Law Society of NSW and held various senior policy and leadership roles in the now NSW Department of Communities and Justice. Most recently, Heather has been the Director, Office of the Chief Executive Officer, at the Greater Cities Commission.
Heather’s five year term will commence on 1 November 2022.
The Legal Services Council has appointed Megan Pitt to act as CEO and Commissioner until 31 October 2022.

The Legal Services Council and Commissioner for Uniform Legal Services Regulation acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as custodians of Australia and pay their respects to Elders, past and present. We also acknowledge their ongoing connection to land, sea and communities throughout Australia, and their contributions to the lives of all Australians.
