The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW) (GIPA Act) applies to the Legal Services Council and Commissioner for Uniform Legal Services Regulation (Commissioner) by virtue of section 416 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law and clause 5(2) of the Legal Profession Uniform Regulations 2015. As part of our responsibility under the GIPA Act, we are required to publish an Agency Information Guide.

The Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) (PPIPA) applies to the Legal Services Council and Commissioner for Uniform Legal Services Regulation by virtue of section 416 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law and clause 5(1) of the Legal Profession Uniform General Regulations 2015.
The PPIPA requires that each public sector agency must prepare and implement a privacy management plan, which explains how the agency manages personal information in line with the PPIPA.

The PPIPA requires that each public sector agency must prepare and publish a data breach policy. This policy sets out what the Council and Commissioner have done to prepare for a data breach and the plan for managing any data breach.
