LSC considering comments received about draft rule for costs disclosure & draft costs estimates guideline

Since the closing of public consultation periods on two important Uniform Law issues, the Legal Services Council (LSC) is considering stakeholder feedback following the invitation for submissions on a draft costs disclosure rule and a new costs estimate guideline.

Under the Uniform Law, if a law practice fails to meet their obligation to disclose certain costs information to their client, any costs agreement is void and any costs are not recoverable until any costs dispute has been resolved by the local regulatory authority or the costs have been assessed or determined.

The next steps taken by the LSC to progress both these important issues will be published in early 2016.
