Rebecca O'Brien

Rebecca O’Brien was admitted as a legal practitioner in Western Australia in 2004.  Following approximately 15 years as a solicitor at firms including Allens and Jackson McDonald, Rebecca joined the independent Bar in 2019.  She was awarded the Chief Justice’s Prize for the Best Performed Reader at the 2019 Bar Readers Course.  Rebecca maintains a broad commercial litigation practice, focusing on contractual disputes in the construction and resources sector.  She also accepts briefs in personal injury cases.

As well as a busy practice at the Bar, Rebecca holds leadership positions in the WA legal profession, including as a member of the WA Chapter Board of the College of Law, a member of the WA Bar Association’s Bar Council and as a member of the Board of Directors of Francis Burt Chambers.

Rebecca is passionate about mentoring and developing the next generation of lawyers.  She has previous experience as an adjunct lecturer of practical legal training and currently delivers advocacy training at courses such as the ABA’s Essential Trial Advocacy Course and the Law Society of WA’s Practical Advocacy Weekend.
